20"x20" Oil and Acrylic
This is one of my favorites. Having moved to the southwest desert some 17 years ago, I continue to be enthralled when the desert blooms. The flowers still seem unreal.
Book to recommend: IT WAS GOOD: MAKING ART TO THE GLORY OF GOD
Containing 21 essays by as many artists, this is an intelligent and challenging read. This morning while Katie was doing her reading, I read the chapter by Charlie Peacock. One of the many passages that impressed me: "...love should also be at the heart of all excellent art created by disciples of Jesus. This is the most excellent way. An artist filled with the Spirit, skill, and ability, asking what it means to love the Church and the watching world as one uniquely gifted, is likely an artist who is making the invisible visible." That's what I want to be!

Amy, I have just discovered your blog and my eye was caught by this beautiful cactus painting. I have a weakness for cacti and you have done a beautiful job with this. It must be wonderful to have these plants growing naturally in your area - springtime must be lovely indeed!
