Ocean View, Acrylic Seascape by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

5"x7" Acrylic on Canvas Panel, $58
Day 32....lots of painting today, several hours in fact. A little cooking, one load of laundry and a DVD of Nigel Kennedy playing awesome Bach music. This is the "abstract" I did yesterday....I know, I know, some would say it's not truly abstract. That's fine, I like it and it's abstract for me. Thanks for coming to my blog today.

Conch Shell, Acrylic Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

This one is tiny, about 3" x 4-1/2", done in acrylic paint and watercolor pencil. Day 31...thank you to each of you for your support. I'm learning more by doing art every day, and feeling blessed by having one or more people to write a note of gratitude every day. Today I did an abstract; maybe I'll be brave and post it tomorrow; I'll see how I like it tomorrow. Thanks again for stopping by.

Seeking the Perfect Wave, Seascape Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

Nevermind on the last post!! I figured out a way to use my computer. Today I went boogie-boarding twice, so this is a view from floating on the board seeking the next perfect wave. Gnarly! Day 27 is a success!!! Acrylic, $58
Okay, who would have thought that it would be harder to paint on vacation than on regular days? I guess visiting with family, boogie boarding, playing cards (Ratfink), eating pizza and ice cream, doing 3 loads of laundry, and getting too sun-burned MIGHT help explain it. Also, I can't use my own computer so cannot access a photo from this public one. Day 27 is a bust for my CHALLENGEE 58. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Will do better tomorrow when I should be able to use my beautiful and faithful apple.

Faith Reading, Oil Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

Day 22 was a zero for painting. I did just write a note of gratitude, but the circumstances of the day simply didn't permit painting. So this is an older painting that I've never posted. It's 11"x14" on stretched canvas. I do love it and thought I'd post this one today. CHALLENGE 58 is going well, but not every day can I meet my goals. Thanks for sharing the journey with me.

Mt. Seclusion, Miniature Landscape, Oil Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

4"x5" Oil Landscape of Virginia Home; Day 17 was another full one. I taught painting class which went quite well today, did some painting myself, ran errands (including shipping my recently sold painting to a lovely lady in Ohio), and continued the seemingly never-ending task of cleaning out my house. Enjoyed painting!! This one was actually painted about 2 or 3 days ago; the week is a blur. $58 as part of CHALLENGE 58

Cupcake, Food Series, Oil Still Life by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

5"x7" Oil Painting, $58 as part of CHALLENGE 58
To purchase please contact Amy at
Today was Day 16 and a good one in that I sold a painting from the CHALLENGE 58 series, and did a new painting tonight with which I am pleased. Tomorrow I will photograph it and post it. It is very different in style, which seems to BE my style, i.e. doing something new and different often. Anyway, today's featured oil painting at 5" x 7" would fit in a standard frame found almost anywhere frames are sold.

Artist Supplies, Original Oil Painting by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

Day 14 Artist Supplies, 6"x8", Oil
Cleaned inside and out all day from the nasty dust storm last night; our front door was blown open and there was a layer of dust everywhere. Faith and I played with acrylics today to make substrates (fancy word for backgrounds) and small abstract paintings. It's always fun to experiment. Oh yes, I also helped a 9 yr. old learn to jump in the pool; she'd had a frightening experience a few years ago....a VERY BUSY DAY, my dogs are TIRED. Thanks for supporting me in this challenge; as I've mentioned before, this experience/daily discipline is aptly named.

Best Lunch, Food Series, Contemporary Still Life, Oil Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

Day 13...I confess, I haven't written or painted yet today; a summer cold is getting the best of me. This 6"x8' Oil painting is one of my favorite "oldies but goodies". I AM heading into the studio now to finish a tiny painting started yesterday. Then I will write a note of gratitude; there seem to be no limit to the people who bless my life in one way or another. Is that great or what?

Ocean View, Watercolor Seascape by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

5"x5-1/2" Watercolor on Heavy W/C Paper,$58
Day 11 of CHALLENGE 58. What was I thinking? I guess I'm persistently hopeful (my daughter says) that I could do a new painting everyday. WOW! Silly me. Anyway, today's painting was finished a few minutes ago. This particular one is recent...I like the few strokes to say "perfect day at the beach", and love it when a watercolor painting of mine is pleasing to me. The odds are not good when it comes to watercolor but I hope to gain more skill in this medium. Thank you note next then bedtime.

Reflection, Miniature Landscape, Oil Painting by AZ Artist Amy Whitehouse

6"x8" Oil on Canvas Panel, $58
Day 10 - Reminded again of all the people who have enriched my life; the gratitude part of my challenge lifts me up. I can think of 4 people off the top of my head whom I could write today. The painting part...well, it's a good discipline to paint everyday. This is an older one as today's painting is not finished and my time is up. THANKS for visiting!
