Miami Beach IV Acrylic Painting By Amy Whitehouse
30"x30"x1-1/2" Palm Tree Landscape on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, $500
This past week I haven't painted much and it's making me crabby! Hope to finish a large commissioned piece tomorrow and be able to post it. An ambitious concept as I have a ways to go with it. Will begin teaching my art students soon and look forward to that so much. Thanks for taking a look. Some have asked how to get my blog daily automatically in their e-mail: I have no idea, but if anyone does I'd appreciate your help.

Tulips And Teapot Mixed Media By Amy Whitehouse
I've been doing painting in my dreams for some time now; maybe I need to think more about what I'm doing? Anyway, was fortunate to paint with a fellow artist today and thank God for the encouragement given. Will start teaching four (!) painting classes each week soon and am apprehensive about keeping up with everything. Thanks for visiting my blog and taking a look...

Aspens Mixed Media Contemporary Landscape
16" x 20" Mixed Media Painting On Stretched Canvas
This painting evolved through many permutations and layers over the span of about 6 weeks. It contains paper, acryic paint, pencil, and maybe other things too. Because so many people have asked about my prices, I'm thinking about including the sale price when I post a new painting. This one sells for $500, it's ready to hang, no frame needed. I like the textured surface because it invites you to touch as well as gaze.

Fall Leaves Acrylic Landscape Autumn Scene
8" x 10" Acrylic Painting on Wood Panel
This began as a negative painting (that is, painting the air around the subject and carving out the trees with blue paint), and then the leaves and gold were added later. It's difficult to homeschool and paint in the same day, and teach piano lessons, make dinner, etc. No surprise, I just wanted to say it. Anyway....Katie and I need to do more art and less spelling?

Ormond Beach, FL
24" x 30" x 1-1/2" Oil On Gallery Wrapped Canvas
This is perhaps my favorite beach in all the world. Fortunately I get to go there every couple of years or so.
Finding it quite hard to find time to paint and homeschool; no big surprise there, just wanted to vent a bit. Anyway, this painting was done a few months ago. I hope to paint some new ones this next week. Thanks for dropping by my blog!!!

Desert Beauties
20"x20" Oil and Acrylic
This is one of my favorites. Having moved to the southwest desert some 17 years ago, I continue to be enthralled when the desert blooms. The flowers still seem unreal.
Book to recommend: IT WAS GOOD: MAKING ART TO THE GLORY OF GOD
Containing 21 essays by as many artists, this is an intelligent and challenging read. This morning while Katie was doing her reading, I read the chapter by Charlie Peacock. One of the many passages that impressed me: "...love should also be at the heart of all excellent art created by disciples of Jesus. This is the most excellent way. An artist filled with the Spirit, skill, and ability, asking what it means to love the Church and the watching world as one uniquely gifted, is likely an artist who is making the invisible visible." That's what I want to be!
