Fruit Bowl Still Life Painting by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse, 20 x 20 inches, Oil on Canvas

20 x 20 inches Oil Painting, $600
To purchase this painting please contact me at amy.whitehouse@me.com
For this piece I wanted the vantage point of looking straight down at a large bowl of fruit. I enjoy the unusual perspective of this angle. Please check out the brand new site I am on: CFAI.co -- I would love to know your thoughts regarding this site. Thanks!

Fall Leaves and Pumpkin 11" x 14" Mixed Media Painting

$500
In this painting I tried a new technique whereby I started with a textured substrate, painted many colors on at random and then "found" the pumpkin and leaves by painting the negative space. Fun and good for the brain because I have to think in terms of carving out the subject rather than painting it on the surface.

Best Buddy Dog Portrait in Acrylic

FInally, a new painting to post. I've been so busy working on commissions, teaching, and trying to keep up with our family's crazy schedule, I haven't had time to paint "my own" work. Anyway, two days were spent on this little fella and I'm pretty content with him. If you want this best buddy for your own, LMK and I'll get him to you. $125

Favorite Palms, 16"x20" Acrylic Painting of Palm Trees

This is a mixed media painting of a much-loved subject, palm trees. They make me think of the beach which of course I miss every day living here in the desert. The hand-made papers on some of the trunks was a delightful decision-making process. Thanks for looking! $700

Summer Days, 24"x30" Oil Landscape

Hey, dear followers! I did re-name this painting just in case you've seen it before. Today I continued to work on the large commission piece, as well as a little work on a new painting. Then I did carpool, then taught piano lessons for a couple of hours, and now I'm trying to stay up til 9. Not sure if I'll make it! Anyway, I have to share my good news: this morning I happened to find out that I received the People's Choice award at the Scottsdale Artists School Best & Brightest juried show last Thurs.! I was so excited! And on top of that, I received a scholarship to a weekly class. To God be the glory. BTW this piece is painted on the 1.5" edges, ready to hang, and sells for $800. Thank you for continuing to support my efforts - you encourage me greatly.

Blooms on Cactus, Oil painting of Southwest Cactus

12"x16", $400
To purchase please contact me at amy.whitehouse@me.com
Tonight was a highlight for me. Having 2 entries accepted into the Scottsdale Artists' School annual juried art show, one of my paintings received an honorable mention. Even better many of my dear friends came to the show to support me, two groups brought me beautiful bouquets, and one family took me out to a very chic restaurant for a fabulous dinner. I feel so loved!
And tomorrow I get to paint again! How great is that?

Taking Down the Tree, Portrait of Evergreen in Acrylic

3.75"x5", $35
So it's January 1, 2012. New Year's is always a good time to reflect on new possibilities, new hopes, and of course resolves to do something a little better than last year. I have the same 4 goals I've had the last few years: as much as possible do daily Bible reading/praying, daily artwork, daily piano playing and daily exercise. But most of all this year I want to be more of a true follower of Jesus Christ. Eternal things are the most important. May your year be full of good health, laughter, discovery, giving, and creativity.

Take Time to Play

Oil on Canvas, 30" x 24" Blues and Greens go so well together, don't they? This painting depicts a playful attitude - at least...
